This act banned segregation in public places such as restaurants, parks, libraries, etc. It also banned companies form segregating employees because of race, color, religion, or sex.

This was significant because of the act gave the African Americans freedom and more equality. It was also one of the biggest changes made, and was a very bidg step in the civil rights movement.
