jul 17, 1936 - Planned Military Action
Description:
A well-planned military uprising began on July 17, 1936 in Garrison Towns throughout Spain. The rebels had control in Spanish Morocco, the Canary Islands, part of Spain except for Asturias, and Santander by July 21. The Republican forces had dealt with the incident except for the large cities such as Andalusian cities, Sevilla, Granada, etc. The Nationalists and Republicans had suspected opposition. Republican violence was used and had begun to increase due to the matter. However, it is believed Nationalist violence was higher. The increase of executions, murders, and assassinations on both sides reflects the great passions that the Civil War unleashed.
