On the 12th of February 1851, many gold seekers rushed into Australia trying to look for gold in Victoria and New South Wales. Many of them were Cornish, Irish, Scotish and even people from China and California came to Australia. The first discovery of gold was in Ophir in New South Wales and then in Bendigo Creek and Ballarat. The gold rush put a sudden burst in the population of Australia.Added to timeline:
