feb 2, 1938 - 1938 PRIMO Automobili is founded

Description:

Francesco Moretti (b. 1900) is the founder of Italy's oldest car manufacturer: Primo Automobili. He comes from a long line of Morettis, which are one of Italy's wealthiest families. The Moretti family have been high profile players in Italy's social hub and still are today, and probably will be for years to come.

The company was founded back in early 1938, but didn't release it's first car until 1947 as the Second World War began in 1939 and unsettled the world considerably. After the war ended in 1945 and life began to settle down again, Francesco picked up from where he left, and Primo Automobili was back in business.

It should surprise no one that from day one, the focus of Primo has been on prestige and quality. They mostly make high-end luxury and sports cars, often made in limited production runs, and rarely make any models meant for mass production, although it has happen occasionally. This means their cars tend to be expensive and highly coveted by collectors. But not only are they in high demand for their rarity, they're also usually very well made and score high in the GPI testing phase.

In 1970, on Franceso's 70th birthday, he announced his retirment from Primo Automobili. As was to be expected, he kept the company within the family and named his son, Alfredo Moretti (b. 1939), to take over as CEO of Primo. Francesco lived to be 98 years old, passing away from natural causes in 1998.

Alfredo maintained the same vision for Primo as his father had done for the past decades, and operated as the CEO until retiring in 2009, then 70 years old, just as his father had done before him.

Alfredo's oldest son, Luca Moretti (b. 1965), took over CEO duties and is Primo's current CEO.
