apr 23, 2011 - 2011 GTH Automotie Coegi Turbo 2.0

Description:

It was in Q2 2011 that GTH launched the Coegi Turbo 2.0, GTH's first ever crossover vehicle (CUV).

They wanted a car that was not defined for a specific task, but a multipurpose vehicle suitable for pretty much any situation. The name, Coegi, is latin and simply means "Drive", and that kind of sums it up. The Coegi was supposed to just drive, regardless of the purpose. This idea was a bit flawed as they had to make compromises here and there.

For example, to get decent mileage they went with a rather mundane 2 liter turbo inline 4, making around 160hp. Good on gas, not so much in performance. They also wanted it to be able to go on rouger paths and terrain, so it has a pretty high ride height and soft suspension, making bodyroll an issue. Lastly, it's appearance did not do it any favors, with a unusually shaped body.

The only areas in which the Coegi did rather well was fuel efficiency and crash testing, and it was pretty light on the wallet as well, while suffering a bit in other aspects.

Despite a low price, it didn't sell and GTH failed to turn a profit, discontinuing it in late 2012.

Price at launch in 2011:
$26.700
