Throughout the years, GTH Automotive and EAGLE Motorcompany have become big rivals. They often try to one-up each other, and such was the case with the Trail King V6 Turbo.

The year before, Eagle launched the FX-5 pickup truck, which despite scoring rather poorly on GPI tests, was a pretty capable offroader. GTH once again launced a competition car, the Trail King V6 Turbo.

It was more impressive on paper, with 60 more horsepower then the FX-5, and boatloads of torque from a 4.3L turbocharged V6 engine, and also weighed around 700kg less then the FX-5, coming in at 1.586kg. Obviously this meant better performance numbers in top speed and acceleration. It also got better mileage with the turbos and a well tuned engine.

However, with it's tall, yet short and narrow design, the Trail King had a bad roll angle and was prone to tipping over. This caused safety concerns and despite it's impressive engine, people rather opted for the FX-5.

Therefore, the Trail King didn't do too well and was only on sale for around a year. Eagle won this round, but GTH would strike again the year after with the Embark.
