Auctor Track Edition
Description:
The Auctor lineup was release in summer of 2005 in three trims:
- Standard
- Sport
- Track-Edition
All three trims share the same engine base, a 1.6L inline 4 cylinder engine, and a FWD drivetrain.
This, the Track Edition trim, was the top trim, and the most expensive by a huge margin. Compared to the Sport trim, the Track edition still has the same 1.6L base engine, but juied up even more, making 278 horsepower. Among other upgrades are the semi-slick (not street-legal) track ready tires, better brakes, race tuned suspension and a lighter body.
As the name implies, the Auctor Track Edition is a car made for the racetrack. It's not meant for public roads and doesn't even have a catalytic converter, and therefore doesn't meet emission requirements to be street legal. Initially it was very popular with amateur racers with deep pockets, taking it to the track in various competitions. Later on it was featured in a popular one-make filler series in the UK for the BTCC that was run for a few years.
Price at launch in 2005:
