No one is exactly sure when pointe was created but the first recorded performances were between 1815 and 1830, by someone named Marie Camargo. No one is entirely sure where this style dance was invented, but the first recorded performances were in Frace and England. A man named George Balanchine said that if pointe didn't exist, he would not be a choreographer. Another reason is that it is a cool new experience for dancers to be able to dance on pointe and see things from a whole new level and a different view.
