The following February, we were enlisted to produce the Cultural Gala under the leadership of Marti Kulich at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. It was ‘our time to shine’. Seventeen years ago we produced an epic variety show (lumberjacks, ballerinas, taiko drummers, African dancers, Irish dancers, David Foster, a young dancer named Heather Morrison- look closely to see if you can spot her in the photo). Jocelyn and Prime Minister Jean Chretien spent some quality time together at the event and in the midst of all this activity seventeen years ago, Patrick and Sandra welcomed Mandalay to the world. Yes, it was a busy crazy time. At that point we didn’t know what the next seven years would hold or even if we would get the chance to host the games but that night we wowed the IOC.
