Description:

In July 17, 1936 there were military uprisings in Melilla at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War. The rebel forces took over the main garrisons of the Spanish army in Africa and they also destroyed the resistance of the army officers who were loyal to the second Spanish republic. All of the supporters of the Second Spanish Republic were either detained or executed. The military uprising in Morocco is an important event to include in this timeline because it represented the distribution of power enforced by Francisco Franco and the start of the Spanish Civil War.
