At the eleventh hour of the 11th, 11th month of 1918, the war finally ended. Germany was deprived of labor and supplies, and therefore faced an inevitable invasion at 5 a.m. Germany had to sign a ceasefire with the Allies. According to estimates, World War I killed nine million soldiers and injured 21 million, while big powers like Germany, Russia, Austria-Hungary, France and the United Kingdom lost almost a million and at least five million civilians died from illness or starvation.
