Description:
German troops advanced rapidly, taking Fort Duomon and Fort Vaud after the underground battles. The Germans halted the offensive in July despite being two miles from Verdun Cathedral. The French took their forts and pushed the line and By the time their forces ceased, both sides lost about 600,000 people.
