mar 16, 2017 - "Gene Simmons is Looking Forward to the Death of Rap"

Description:

Gene Simmons does not hesitate to share his truest, most intimate feelings concerning the current music scene in this 2016 interview with Rollingstone Magazine. He has a number of insights, which are neither particularly significant nor differential of what most musicians in his position have to say. Simmons, much like Geraldo Rivera, feels that hip-hop is not relatable. He notes that he doesn’t have “the cultural background to appreciate being a gangster.” In the same article, Simmons calls female artists “disco divas who get up onstage — and I love Jennifer Lopez and Ciara and Shakira and Madonna and all the girls with names that end in 'a,' they're very talented in their own way — but it's dishonest.” In “Get Em High,” a track on West’s “The College Dropout,” feature artist, Common, raps that “they always say rap is dead.” It is common that musicians from the previous generation of popular music condemn the newer popular genre.
