jan 16, 2016 - "Yamborghini High"
Description:
“Yamborghini High,” a song by A$AP Mob, was first released as a single in January 2016. The single lead up to their album “Cozy Tapes, Vol 1: Friends,” which was released some months later. The song was meant as a tribute to a founding member of their rap collective, A$AP Yams. In 2015, Yams died of a drug overdose. The single’s artwork depicts a cartoon image of Yams among clouds, as an angel. Similarly, the cover of their album, “Cozy Tapes, Vol. 1: Friends,” was a baby picture of A$AP Yams, characterized by his large birthmark. It is a direct referent text of “Blonde.” In the opening track “Nikes,” Frank Ocean sings, “pour up for A$AP,” before also wishing Trayvon Martin also “RIP.”
