Shock G, the leader of Digital Underground, performs this song as his alter ego, Humpty Hump. The song, released in 1990, was very popular, and is a part of many 90s movie soundtracks. In Insecure’s “Hella Open,” Issa Rae wears a number of clever, pop culture inspired graphic T-shirts. In this episode in particular, Issa wears a shirt with Humpty Hump’s photo on the front. The shirt is meant to spoof Donald Trump’s campaign merchandise, and reads “Make America Hump Again.”
