A general election was held in June of 1931 by the provisional government. This election was won by the socialist party and other left-wing parties. Niceto Alcala Zamora, a moderate republican, became the prime minister. However, he had many radical republicans on his cabinet. With the help of the socialist party, he tried to introduce reforms such as, the garian reform and regional autonomy.
