European powers joined the Greek naval forces & defeated the Turks at the Greek port of Navarino in 1827 (recognized as independent in 1830). Their recognization of independence was under the London Protocol. Greece was primarily successful in their independence due to help from Great Britain, France and Russia, who wanted an autonomous state in Greece.Added to timeline:
