may 10, 1936 - Plot to overthrow the popular front
Description:
Niceto Alcala Zamora was removed from office as president in May of 1936, and he was replaced by the likes of Manuel Azaña from the left-wing. The officers of the Spanish army ( Emilio Mola, Francisco Franco, Juan Yague, Gonzalo Queipo de Llano, José Sanjurjo,) viewed this as an opportunity to think of a way to try and overthrow their strongly disliked popular front form of government. These dosagreements eventually cost the entire country to go into a civil war with one another.
