Manuel Azaña tried to help assemble multiple groups of politically left groups to represent the left in the election. This included the Socialist Party (PSOE), Communist Party ( PCE), Esquerra Party and the Republican Union Party. Popular front was also created around this time, and people were urged just to not vote at all so the popular front would not win. The popular front ended up winning and many conservatives were not happy with it, especially when they released all left wing prisoners. Actions like these led to the welthy taking control over the finances and leaving the other citizens little monet to survive on. This led to more strikes.
