feb 7, 1936 - Election of the popular front
Description:
This was one of the most important factors on what led Spain to go into a civil war. Socialists and Republicans tried to reform Spanish society through parliament, however it did not go to plan. Their wishes did not pan out and many of the reforms ended up being reversed or restricted. This eventually left people with the only option to revolt against the right. Eventually the right was defeated in the February election of 1936 which now allowed for reform to take place. The right was not happy and resorted to violence.
