feb 16, 1936 - The National Front

Description:

Right-wing groups iformed the National Front. This included the CEDA and the Carlists.
The Falange Española (fascist party) did not officially join but many of its members supported the goals of the National Front.

On Sunday, 16th February, 1936 people voted. Over 9,870,000 people participated in the 1936 General Election. 4,654,116 people voted for the Popular Front, whereas 4,503,505 people voted for the National Front and the centre parties got 526,615. The Popular Front, took 263 seats out of the 473 in the Cortes forming the new government. The National front lost the general elections.
