Description:
The first prototype of the electron microscope was built in 1931 by the German physicist Ernst Ruska and electrical engineer Max Knoll. Max attended the Technical University of Berlin where he obtained his doctorate in the Institute for High Voltage Technology. Ruska won a nobel prize in 1986 for his work on electron optics.
