apr 1, 1931 - Left Wing wins in local elections
Description:
Around 1931, the monarchy was already weakened by the association from unconstitutional rule and the military government. During the 1931 local elections, it was a big victory for the Republicans and Socialists. Right after the Socialists and Republican victory this declared a new republic and brought Alfonso XII, the king of Spain, into exile. The population of the new Spanish republic wishes that they hope to see in the new republic but most importantly, improvement on the bourgeoisie. They also wanted to see in the new republic that they would lead them to the 20th century since they were the republic pushed at modernization. The Second Spanish Republic extended their political and civil rights to those who did not have them. They have also commended the introduction of public education and the emancipation of women. However, the republic only had a short time to perform these tasks because in the next five years, Spain was pushed into a three year civil war.
