Jose Calvo Sotelo was a leading figure of the Anti-republican right and the Minister of Finance under Primo de Rivera. He was assassinated in July 13, 1936 in Madrid by the bodyguards of the Socialist leader, Indalecio Prieto. He was first arrested then shot dead.
