apr 1, 1931 - Establishment of the Second Republic

Description:

The Second Republic was declared to replace the monarchy but Alfonso fled the country causing a provisional government to be in power until they could establish a permanent solution and draw up a new constitution. The monarchy prior to the republic was weak with its habits of unconstitutional government and military government. The Second Republic was established around the time of an economic crisis from the Great Depression and coping with political reforms. The government did little to interfere especially with problems like separatism and there was a split society.
