Description:
The murder of the left military leader José Castillo right politician José Calvo Sotelo influenced a spark of violence between the left and ring wing that was enough to start the Spanish Civil War. Jose Castillo was a member of the Socialist Party that was murdered by a gang of Falangists in Madrid. The next day, Jose Calvo Sotelo was assassinated by Castillo's friends in revenge of his murder. This event in particular caused Francisco Franco and others to lead a military uprising that would hurl the nation into Civil War as the left-wing already was not interested anymore in achieving change through government and not content with the Republic.
