dec 9, 1931 - 1931 Spanish Constitution
Description:
The 1931 Spanish Constitution the constitution of the Second Spanish Republic in effect until April 1, 1939, however was largely ineffective after the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War and ignored by revolutionary socialists, anarchists, and fascists. This constitution laid the basis for freedoms such as speech and association, and later even the extended suffrage to women in 1933. It also had voided the special legal status of any Spanish nobility. One point for controversy of the 1931 Spanish Constitution was its hostility to the Church in its articles regarding Church property and not allowing religious orders from educators. This would turn the Church to be against the Republic.
