sep 1, 1932 - Catalan Statute
Description:
During Rivera's dictatorship, Catalonians were treated badly and harshly. Catalonia had expected the new government to support its call for increased autonomy. In the 1931 local elections, Catalonian separatists won by a majority and were proclaimed as an independent Catalan Republic. But in September of 1932, the Catalan Statute restored large autonomy for Catalonia regarding domestic affairs. They set up a new government (regional) called Generalidad to decide specific aspects like taxation and education for Catalonia.
