Hitler rose to power as the chancellor of Germany in 1933 and then as Führer in 1934. During his dictatorship from 1933 to 1945, he started World War II in Europe by invading Poland on 1 September 1939. He was closely involved in military operations throughout the war and was crucial to the responsibility of the Holocaust. Hitler was planning that if the previous president died it would be the perfect opportunity to get total power in Germany. He take advantage of this death and received the position in power over all of Germany. The German army took an oath of allegiance to its new ‘commander-in-chief’, and the last traces of Germany’s democratic government were demolished to make way for Hitler’s Third Reich. The Fuhrer assured his people that the Third Reich would last for a thousand years, but Nazi Germany collapsed only 11 years later.
