nov 8, 1923 - Beer Hall Putsch

Description:

Hitler and his followers tried to take over the government. Since 1921 Hitler had led the Nazi party, a political group that promoted German pride and anti-Semitism and was upset with the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler was convicted of treason and sentenced to 5 years in prison. He spent less than a year in prison and in this time his support was growing massively. His trials brought him attention and publicity as thousands flocked to watch the trial. He made speeches about why he thought they lost the first war, he blamed it on the Jewish, France, and Marxism for all of Germany's problems. He ended up ignoring this verdict because the “Eternal Court of History” would decide his fate.
