apr 14, 1931 - Local elections

Description:

This election was held in regards to determining what the future status of the government would become. The republican and socialist parties were able to successfully win this election and establish A Second Republic and replaced the monarchy, which was outdated and unsuccessful. In addition to winning the election Alfonso XIII had been exiled from Spain. The socialists and republicans were able to achieve their goals of overthrowing the military government and getting rid of Alfonso XIII. In order to make sure that the new government was being respected a provisional was created in order to maintain control while creating the foundation of the Second Republic. Basically the winning of this local election was what led to the founding and creation of the Second Spanish Republic in Spain.
