Description:
The left wing groups (including communists) organized an uprising. Turns against the Republicans that helps the Ceda to win the next election and the Left Wing coalition should build the Popular Front to unite them.The rebellion was in Asturias (an industrialized city of Spain), a coal-mining region where the coal miners were experiencing decreased wages and increased working hours and sacking many labourers in response to the Great Depression. They overcame the Civil Guard and controlled most of the province. There were over 20,000 troops sent from Africa. The navy and air force bombed towns and villages in the region. The rising was ended by army (General Franco) and the military acted with vengence by using torture and execution on the rebels. The employers sacked trade unionists from this defeat of battle.
