jun 22, 1936 - The Popular Front wins the 1936 Elections

Description:

The Popular Front winning the 1936 Elections was a key factor in hurling Spain into 3 years of Civil War. The Popular Front was a coalition composed of the Spanish Socialist Worker's Party, the Communist Party of Spain, and the Workers' Party of Marxist Unification. During the first 2 years of the Second Spanish Republic, the Socialists and Republicans had attempted to bring change in society through use of parliament. However, these changes were reversed throughout the period of November 1933 to February 1936. Due to the Left-Wing opposition beating the Right-Wing parties by a landslide, the Right-Wing parties decided that success would only come through violence.
