aug 10, 1932 - Attempted Coup against the Republic
Description:
The military was a formidable enemy of change and had frequently intervened with the parliamentary process of Spain. On August 10th of 1932, General José Sanjurjo launched a coup against the Second Spanish Republic. This attempt in resisting change not only failed, but had also angered and increased hostility of most officers against the left-wing politicians, such as those of the Popular Front. José Sanjurjo had the intentions of toppling the government but not necessarily the actual Republic.
