apr 14, 1931 - Start of Second Spanish Republic
Description:
The Second Spanish Republic had initially started on April 14th of 1931 after the monarchy’s supporters had lost the elections against the republicans and Alfonso agreed to using democratic elections. Overall giving the spanish classes (low-middle) great hope in the proclamation believed that it would change their lives for the better and create a better Spain. The republic had extended political and civil rights to the people of Spain who had been wrongfully stripped away from. In turn, this had increased the rights of the working classes, introduced a new form of public education and gave women more rights. Oligarchy was replaced with the moderate centre-left for the fisrt time. Meaning that the goverments political views lean more to the left-wing on the left–right political spectrum, but closer to the centre than other left-wing politics.
