After the last election, a new constitution was ratified and allowed for over 6 million women to now vote for people in government, The right created an alliance in order to take advantage of the new electoral system that was made in that year. This election resulted in an overwhelming victory for the right wing mostly due to the left, socialists running by themselves unlike the right. The Left republicans and socialists tried to pressure the president, Niceto Alcala Zamora into cancelling the election results due to their strong beliefs in the right not deserving the win, they believed that the second republic was made to run on the beliefs of left and the right had NO RIGHT to run it, CEDA told them they would not be violent and follow the rules of the republic.
