Description:

The monarchy's supporters lost the elections against the republicans , the population greeted the proclamation with high hopes, the lower class were expecting their lives to become better while the rich and wealthy were expecting the new government to carry Spain into the 20th century. The new republic was to increase the rights of the working class, introduction of public education and the emancipation of women.
