aug 23, 1939 - German - Soviet Non Agression Pact

Description:

The pact was basically a truce between the two nations to not make any military movements against one another for 10 years. It is also know as the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact.

Causes
1 - Hitler did not want Russia attacking Germany, he also did not want to be fighting a war on two fronts.

2 - He wanted to give the Soviets a false sense of security so that he could invade easier later.

Effects
1 - Japan was mad at Germany because of this new treaty. In making this agreement Hitler had broke the Anti-Comintern Pact.

2 - After only a few years Hitler broke the treaty and started a full scale invasion on Russia. Because he wanted Russia's land for food. This led to the downfall of Nazi Germany as Hitler thought he would've taken the nation before winter.
