Description:
General Miguel Primo de Rivera who was the military general of Spain had decided to resign from his position while Spain was facing economic troubles. Because of Rivera departures Alfonso XIII had to appoint another dictator. However Alfonso never ended up replacing the role of a military dictator, and pushed the task towards the sign. Alfonso XIII was rapidly losing support from the people of Spain and his strong authoritative demeanor was fading in front of him. Although the king was already losing the support of the people in Spain. The plea of a second republic began to expand and spread throughout Spain. Rivera's resignation to the people was just another example to them that Alfonso XIII wasn't any adequate king for them. This led to the republican parties, Socialists, and the Catalan left forming a group targeted towards overthrowing the military government and Alfonso XIII.
