aug 26, 1789 - Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen
Description:
From August 20th to 26th, in 1789, by France National Assembly, the articles were adopted. This is an early constitution. Louis 16th of France began Estates General and as the third estate suggested for every deputies to have vote, the king refused and locked them out of the estates general. As the third estate changed their name into National Assembly in June 17th 1789, they started to lay out the principles that supports the foundation of new government.
The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen was one of the first European political documents to apply the concept of Enlightenment to governance. From a political system based on privileges to people based on the concept of democratic omnipresent human rights, the origin of political jurisdiction in France has been altered by the document. France at that time never recognized the equality and fairness in political rights to number of people. This constantly becomes a huge inspiration to other movements in the 18th century.
The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen includes:
"Men are born and remain free and equal in rights."
"Rights to liberty, property, security, and resistance to oppression"
"Expression of general will"
"Every male citizen may have freedom of speech, opinion, writing, and print and shall be responsible for such abuses of this freedom as to be defined by law."
