MAR 24-JUN 10: After reports that Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was persecuting the Albanian people in Kosovo, NATO petitioned the U.N. for approval of a bombing campaign against the FRY. The U.N. denied this proposal, but NATO went ahead with their plans anyway citing the notion that it was a humanitarian crisis. The campaign lasted 78 days and forced FRY President Slobodan Milosevic to withdraw his forces from Kosovo which had been deprived of their resources and will to fight.
