Description:
In 1891 delegates from farm, labor, and reform organizations met in Cincinnati to discuss the creation of the People's party. The 1892 Populist platform focused on issues of finance, transportation, and land. Populists believed that god was on there side in the fight to “save our republican institutions and common Christianity from decay and death”. The Populist party was a startling new feature in the 1892 campaign. Their candidate James B. Weaver gained over 1 million votes, 10% of the total votes and have a total of 22 electoral votes.
