dec 18, 1894 - South Australia Gives Women The Right To Vote
Description:
This day was significant because it was a step forward in Australia's views and thinkings of women and their rights. It was also one of the first steps towards gender equality. It took women a long time, over a decade, before what they were asking for finally happened. They wrote many petitions, some having as many as 11,600 signatures and reached around 400 feet in length. Both men and women signed these petitions. This event has helped change Australia into the country that it is today.
