Description:
The overthrow of the legitimately elected fusionist party by white supremacy groups. A mob of 2000 white men killed an estimated 14-60 black men and women, and assaulted others. They forced the resignation of all black holders of offices, or they killed them. The only black-run newspaper in Wilmington, The Daily Record, was burnt down and it’s owner forced into exile. The White Declaration of Independence was written stating that the U.S. Government was intended to be run by “An Enlightened People” (Whites).
