jul 4, 1776 - Approval of the Deceleration of Independence

Description:

On June 11, 1776 the Continental Congress gave Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Robert Livingston, Roger Sherman, and Thomas Jefferson the job of righting a letter of independence to Great Britain. All of the men picked Thomas Jefferson to write the first draft of it. Thomas Jefferson wrote the draft over the next few weeks and, and after some changes made by the rest of the team, they showed it to Congress on June 28, 1776. Not everyone agreed on declaring independence from Great Britain at first. The first time voting some colonies like South Carolina and Pennsylvania said no but, New York and Delaware chose not to vote. Finally a few more weeks after more changes were made the declaration was signed on July 4, 1776.
