jun 16, 1913 - Niels Bohr creates the 'atomic model'
Description:
After working with Rutherford and J.J. Thomson, Niel Bohr combines both ideas and creates the atomic model. It shows the nucleus (made up of Protons and Neutrons) surrounded by orbiting electrons. But most importantly he discovered that electrons travel in separate orbits (a bit like a solar system except there are multiple planets on each orbit). He also realised that the number of electrons in the outer orbit determines the properties of an element.
