apr 1, 1951 - MacArthur's Letter and Insubordination
Description:
Truman strongly did not want to enter a land war in Asia, which was now what would happen with China in the war. However, MacArthur wanted a complete victory and disagreed with Truman's policy of limited war fought to achieve only specific goals. When he could not sway Truman, MacArthur sent a letter to the House Republican leader attacking Truman's policies; as a result, when the letter went public, Truman fired MacArthur for insubordination in April of 1951.
