After WWII Korea was divided along the 38th parallel by the Soviet Union and UNited States. The north became a communist region controlled by the USSR and the SOuth was democratic and had the support of the US. US involvement was becasue of fear that communism would spread throughout that region of Asia if it took over Korea.Added to timeline:
