dec 16, 1941 - Housing Committee (ACC) - starts
Description:
In June 1938 a special sub committee under Councillor Bloodworth was formed to investigate the problem of sub standard housing - this became the Decadent Areas Committee. This became a standing Housing Committee in January 1941 and reconstituted by Council agreement on 15 June 1944 under the chairmanship of H P Burton. The purpose of the committee was to control the administration of the council's powers under the Auckland City Housing Act 1942 and the administration of temporary housing in the Transit Camps. The main task of the committee was slum clearance and the upgrading of unsuitable dwellings.
The Committee met until 1956 when its functions passed to the Property and Health Committee.
