Jane Austen was an English novelist mainly known for her six most famous novels. Austens works probed into womens perspective on pursuing marriage to get a more favourable social standing and economic situation. Austens novels are cherished for their humour and irony but at the same time an underlying seriousness.

These six major novels are Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Persuasion, Sense and Sensibility, Mansfield Park and Northanger Abbey. Austen started writing early in her life but the publishing of them were postponed.
